We had an earthquake yesterday about 11:28 am it was a shaker and then it rolled quite a bit. It registered at 5.4...........now normally we have earthquakes all the time here but not big ones!

Sorry I have been MIA

I was on the Tour Bus driving, took Black Sox’s baseball players up to Palmer, Ak. for a game with the Mat-Su Miner's (sorry they didn’t do too good….10-2 Mat-Su skunked them bad) then back to Anchorage on Sunday nite……my day ended around midnite! Monday (I was up at 4:30am) I had folks from an International Flight that was diverted to Anchorage because of a Volcano eruption somewhere around Russia, they stayed over nite at the Alyeska Resort Hotel in Girdwood (40 miles south of Anchorage) and I picked them up and took them to the Airport in the morning.

Boy things are still changing at the North Terminal, they had an area that we use to park Tour Buses at now it's all glassed in ..........no more parking, it's all pretty much drop off your passengers and go now!

I needed some more ZZZZZ 's so I went back and took a short nap at the hotel I was staying in, then got in some shopping at Sam's Club, Michaels's (a new Tim Holtz Acrylic stamp set) and Pet -Co............can't forget my furry kids! Then I had a trip at 3:00pm, I picked up kids from Germany to work in the Fish Processing Plant that’s located in Kenai. (remember it’s a 3 hour drive one way) Total Miles driven for 2 day was 630……..I’m glad I have a few days off!

Hello everyone it's turned out to be an awesome day in Alaska with the sun shining with all it's heart!

Not much happening with our Volcano Mt.Redoubt.....the website said that they sent out Two AVO field crews are out at Redoubt today, measuring gas emissions near the summit, making dome observations, and collecting GPS data.

Camera is co-located with seismic station DFR, approximately 7.6 miles (12.2 km) NE of Redoubt.

Well it's been an interesting week for me, I worked on Monday and then drove up to Anchorage that nite after work. The Mountain (MT. Redoubt has been steaming all day) Looks so far away when going around the Turnagain Arm to Anchorage. My DH had a appointment early with the Dentist on Tuesday......no fun for him! But Fun for me I got to go shopping. (My youngest son turns 23 on Saturday, so hence some needed shopping) I got a new Cricut cartridge "Animal Kingdom'' to play with from Michaels Craft Store. I had a consult with my surgeon on Tuesday at the Native Medical Center and they decided not to do surgery on Wednesday and instead scheduled a CT Scan for the following day, It was a experience that I'd never done........so I'm still waiting on the results. We drove home on Thursday, it had cooled off a bit, weather wise and I will be back to work on Friday driving school and will wait for a call about the scan for results.?????

Spring Break Up

Well it is finally here and with the spring break up comes slushy snow that has not been removed and piled up and graded..........which makes for nasty back rural roads for driving on .......hence me getting stuck in the muck and sinking and can't move the bus either forward or backward!

I had to call Base-Shop to get me out of this mess twice this week, along with safety taking 101 pictures to make sure that you didn't do anything wrong with getting into & out of the students drop off. So much fun...........not! More like my stress level has shot sky high!

I'm trying to cope, and getting more new kids and a new 30 ft bus to go into the rural back road to pick-up & deliver these kids! Okay any kind of sympathy I get I'll take at the moment........LOL Just hope the rest of the week is better, we are over the hump of the week! The Volcano has been pretty quite with slight tremors going on but nothing else.......thank goodness for small favors.! It snowed tuesday morning and had 1/2 inch on the ground again but thankfully it is melting during the day.

Redoubt's at it again!

The past week the Volcano had been pretty quite until today......

Another significant explosive event occurred at Redoubt Volcano at approximately 5:58 am AKDT (13:58 UTC). At this time, the cloud height is estimated to be 50,000 feet based on National Weather Service radar. The cloud is drifting to the southeast of the volcano. We went to town and could see the Ash cloud in the sky........pretty amazing!

On these seismograms you may see a variety of signals. Examples of signals seen on the webcorders are local earthquakes, volcanic tremor at Alaska's volcanoes, and earthquakes elsewhere in the world. Almost any earthquake in the world having a magnitude greater than 5.5 will be seen on these webicorders.

Showing on the webicorders it looks like 5:30 pm tonite it was really shaking!

Redoubt erupts again

Mount Redoubt has erupted multiple times this morning, most recently at 9:24 a.m. with a plume rising to 65,000 feet. An ashfall advisory, issued by the National Weather Service, is in effect for the western Kenai Peninsula, including Kenai, Soldotna, Homer and Cooper Landing. Discrete earthquakes continue to dominate the seismic signal at Redoubt. The hut webcam shows vigorous steaming from the summit crater. There have been no other large explosions since this morning's large eruption at 9:24AM. Minor ashfall, trace amounts to 1/8 inch of ash, from Ninilchik southward to the southern tip of the Kenai Peninsula, including Homer and communities along Kachemak Bay. Trace amounts of ash are also possible for areas north of Ninilchik. We did get a trace amount of ash tonite when I went and started my truck to come home from work, it was a light dusting on the truck. Will keep you updated on what's going on. I'm on my Laptop, puter is not working may have to replace my hard-drive? Taking it in tomorrow.

Redoubt Volcano Erupts

Aviation code: RED Volcano Alert Level - WARNING

It erupted at 10:30pm last nite and 4 more times since 4:00am this morning.........I slept thru the whole thing and thankfully the winds were heading north and we missed all the ash coming down here in Soldotna (see on the map)
